Wally Tucker, 90, of Effingham, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at his home.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, with the Rev. Roger Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Lake Sara, Effingham, with military rites. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Wally may be made to Central Illinois Honor Flight, Effingham. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.Wally was born on June 12, 1923, in Effingham, the son of Elisha Wilford and Edith (Bolin) Tucker. He married Moynell Field on June 16, 1946, in Kentucky, and she preceded him in death on June 21, 2010. Wally was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He traveled to Washington, D.C., in 2011 with Central Illinois Honor Flight accompanied by his grandson, Josh. He was a member of Effingham American Legion, Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, and the Cardinal Golf Course.He retired from Boos Plumbing & Heating Company in Effingham with more than 40 years of service. Wally was an avid golfer and a charter member of the "Old Coggers" and "Ratcheck" at Cardinal Golf Course in Effingham.He enjoyed hunting, fishing on Lake Sara and watching birds with his beloved dog, Molly, from his home at Lake Sara.Wally is survived by his children, John Tucker of Rantoul, Kelly (Mary Jo) Tucker of Effingham, Julie (Darrell) Hoffman of Effingham and Jeanne Tucker of Springfield; grandchildren, Jonna Tucker, Jackie Tucker, Josh Tucker, Jacob (wife, Heather) Tucker, Sophie Hoffman, Layna Hoffman and Nell Boone; great-granddaughters, Mae Lynn and Sakura; sister, Shirley (Dave) Lewis of Rochester; and brother-in-law, Bill Field of Effingham.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Moynell; brother, Keith Tucker; and sisters, Geraldine Feuerborn, Roma Feuerborn, and Virginia Hewkin.Sign the guestbook at www.effinghamdailynews.com.
