MOUNT AIRY, NC ~ Mr. Winford Reid Adams, age 82, of Mount Airy, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Golden Living Center.
He was born August 29, 1931 in Surry County, to the late Granville McKinley & Lilla Gammons Adams.
Mr. Adams was a member of Westview Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and the eldest member.
He retired from Mosley & Reece as sales manager and worked in grocery management his entire life.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Reba Ellen White Adams of the home; son & daughter-in-law, Tim & Ellen Adams of Mount Airy, NC; grandchildren, Jennifer Adams Doby & husband Chad Doby of Mount Airy, NC and Judson & wife Stacie Adams of King, NC; great-grandchildren, Brittany Ellen Doby, Kirsten Leigh Doby, Holden Reid Adams and Olivia Renee Adams; and sisters, Irona Ledford of King, NC and Katrina Hiatt of Mount Airy, NC.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his sisters, Mabel Goad and Myrtle Branch and brother, Wesley Adams.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Westview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Darren Slate with interment to follow at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Adams will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Service of Mount Airy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
The family would like to give special thanks to all of the family and friends for their care and support and to the staff at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home and to the staff and residents of Golden Living.
