Ellen Pearson Hayes was the daughter of Stephen Pearson and Mary Holden christened 22 March 1825 in St. Paul Blackburn, Lancashire, England. She married William Bradford Heyes/Hayes in St Mary the Virgin Church, Blackburn, Lancashire England on 24 June 1845. In 1858 Ellen left Liverpool, England with the children on the Ship James Foster Jr. and arrived at Castle Gardens, New York 22 March 1858. From there they made their way to Detroit and show up in the 1860 census with William, then Ellen purchases land in Allegan county 40 acres in Pine Plains Twp., now Valley Township, where in 1867 she dies from consumption. William remarries shows up in the 1870 Kalamazoo, City of Kalamazoo census and can not track him from there.

Have no proof that Ellen is buried here other than the cemetery would have been the township cemetery when she died, and I doubt she would have ever had a headstone. Just wanted a memorial some where for her to link the children.
2022 Have found information that grandmother Ellen was buried in the old Valley Township Cemetery. It unfortunately has been allowed to go back to woods. But apparently her name is on the list for that cemetery. I can't change the cemetery it will not let me. I assume because it isn't a registered cemetery.
