Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, Percy Lee "Bull" Gunter and Mallissia Thames Gunter and a brother, Percy Lee Gunter Jr.
Survivors include his sisters, Judy Webb and her husband Bill of Monroe, LA, Chris Johnson and her husband Huey of Darnell, LA, Loretta Gilder of Texarkana, AR, Sandra Huffty of Kilbourne, LA and Mickey Obennowskey of Malvern, AR. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
