Marvin C. Barnett, 87, St. Joseph, died Friday, April 2, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.

Mr. Barnett was born in Stewartsville, MO, September 2, 1911, to James and Grace Lisle Barnett. He lived in Stewartsville and Mound City before moving to St. Joseph, where he lived most of his life.

On Feb. 23, 1936, he married Ariel McGuire in Maryville. She survives of the home.

He worked as a meat cutter for Armour & Co., until retiring in 1972, when he became a silversmith. He also farmed in the Mound City and Stewartsville areas. He spent winters in Arizona, making and selling his crafted jewelry.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren (Scott Allen McMillen and Keith Paul McMillen).

Other survivors include two daughters, one brother, one sister, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial were Monday in St. Joseph.
