Mr. Rippey was born on August 18, 1933 in the Lambsburg Community of Carroll County, Virginia to Troy and Ada Lowe Rippey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Danny Rippey.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Rippey of Galax, Virginia; two grandchildren and spouse Jeri and Doug Horton; Rachel Rippey; great-grandchildren Jacob Lineberry; Jaxon Horton and Ayden Rippey; sisters and brother-in-law Vera Combs of Galax, Virginia; Lura McCraw of Hillsville, Virginia; Virginia and James Combs of Lexington, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law Charlie and Geraldine Rippey of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Felts and the Rev. Sam Holder officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. At the request of Mr. Rippey his body will then be cremated, therefore the family request no flowers please.
