Mrs. Dora Miles Johnson, age 92 of Person County, departed this life Monday, February 5, 2021 in Person Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit. She was born in Person County to the late John and Dora Burton Miles and was a member of Elijah Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Johnson; four children: Gene, Kenneth, Lawrence and John; one grandson, Eric Hughes; four brothers: Thomas, John D., Lawrence and Ulyssee; and four sisters: Hallie, Mary, Annie and Daisy.
She is survived by four daughters: Sylvia Miles (Rick), Dora Dean Johnson (Jeff), LaVerne Johnson and Pamelia Parham (Calvin); one sister, Shirley Yancey of Buffalo Junction, VA; one brother-in-law, Charles “Slick” Ramey; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Graveside service will be held Monday, February 8, 2021 at 12:00pm at the Elijah Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Alfred Faulkner, Pastor, officiating and the Rev. Toney Smith, Pastor of Greenwood Baptist Church in Boydton, VA and St. Level Baptist Church in Red Oak, VA, providing the Words of Comfort. Interment will follow in the Elijah Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. A viewing will also be Monday at the site of the service from 11:00am to 12:00pm.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 7016 Dirgie Mine Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
