Cassie came to us in eary 1983. She suffered brain damage at birth due to medical neglect, and the damage was so extensive she was given until the age of 6. My family received legal custody of her on June 15, 1990 at the courthouse, the same day my adoption was finalized. Cassie filled our hearts with joy, and it was clear to all who had the privelege of knowing her that she was very bright and had a mind of her own. She liked every color except black and brown, loved Wheel of Fortune (she was lucky enough to get Vanna White's autograph from a family friend), and loved her Teddy Ruxpin, but would cry if "The Ugly Duckling" was playing. She left us two days after Easter 1993, after suffering from hydrocephalus complications. She was 13. She is survived by 6 brothers and sisters, her parents, Lou and Bernie (who have since joined her), many friends and teachers at Carver School and elsewhere, her pediatrician, Dr. Robert Patyrak, many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles, and countless others who played a role in her life, big or small.

"Cassie wasn't handicapped...we were."

Her headstone reads: Daughter

LITTLE ONES TO HIM BELONG

Thank you to all who have stopped by to leave Cassie flowers and notes. It truly amazes me that people are so drawn to her, both in life and in death. I guess that's how angels are.

And Thank You to Sharon for sponsoring Cassie's page!!!
