Jim was the son of James and Myrtle Barwick Boyd. He married Lorraine Holmes in Creal Springs, Ill., on Dec. 23, 1950.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years; three children, Keith (Kathi) Boyd, Renee Boyd Gorham and Monique (Larry) Decker; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth (Charles) Ross; and one brother, Sherman (Colleen) Boyd.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen and Mary Ada.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 43 1/2 years in quality control. He also worked at Frye's Marathon part time for 20 years, because he loved working on cars.

Jim was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War from Oct. 6, 1952, to Oct. 5, 1954.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
