Birchdale Past & Present: LD was the son of Daniel Danielson & Nellie Person. He grew up on the Danielson farm southwest of Birchdale and very near the homestead of Nellie's parents, Peter & Gunilla Person. He had one sister, Gertrude, who moved to Seattle after she graduated and married Neil Bennet.
LD married Alma Solo of Manitou & they moved in with his grandparents, the Persons. He farmed & logged. In 1955, LD & Alma built a new house, a package house from Wadena, MN, with the help of Morris Holte & John Bruce. When his father, Dan Danielson, died, LD took over farming his land as well as his own.
LD & his neighbor, Albert Boquist, were great friends. They spent a lot of time together & worked back & forth on each other's farms. He also was a good friend of Clara Ostlund & Albert & Phyllis Henrickson. LD & Albert Henrickson graduated in the same class at Indus High School.
LD kept farming until he got sick. He had open-heart surgery, hip surgery, & died of colon cancer in 2001.
