Mrs. Viola Wilson Adams
(July 24, 1924 - October 11, 2013)

Viola Wilson Adams, 89 years young of Huntsville, Alabama, transitioned from this earth to her heavenly home, Friday, October 11, 2013 at Huntsville Hospital .Her loving, devoted daughter, Cynthia, was there at her side as she always was. Mrs. Adams left this earth as she lived her life, peacefully and reverently.

She was born July 24, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late Precilla and Eddie Wilson Sr. On December 26, 1945, she married the late Alfred G. Adams, Sr. To this stead-fast union were born three children, Alfred, Jr., Priscilla, and Cynthia.

"Miss Viola", as she was affectionately called, lovingly served the needs of thousands of children during her long career as a teacher and counselor, where her genuine concern for young people would inspire and instruct a generation of young men and women. Her final career path took her to J.O. Johnson High school, from which she retired.

Untiring and unselfish commitment to Lakeside United Methodist Church was a highlight of her life. For many years, she was a featured soloist in the sanctuary choir. However, once she felt that her lovely voice had rendered as much joy as God intended, she stepped down into the congregation so that another voice could shine. From then, until her home going, she could be found quietly and dutifully going about her business at the church, doing God's work, whatever the task.

Miss Viola kept herself busy with other activities as well. She was a charter member of the Society of Professional Women, as well as a life member of the Alabama A. &.M. University Alumni Association. Fantastic memories will live on with her family and friends as they fondly remember her representing the Huntsville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated a few days ago at the Alabama A. & M. University homecoming parade. That smile, that wave, will not be forgotten.

Viola Wilson Adams was preceded in death by her companion, her husband, her love, A. G. Adams, Sr. She is survived by her son, A.G. Jr. (Sara); daughters, Priscilla Marable (Samuel), and Cynthia Adams; sisters, Edna Wilson McLoyd, Edwina Wilson Rodriguez (Alberto), and brother, Eddie Wilson, Jr.; grandson, Melvin Quentin Drake, Sr. (son of Priscilla); four doting and attentive great grandsons, M. Quentin, Jr., Aaron Patrick, Zachery Nicholas, and Benjermin Adam Drake; step-grandson, Alfred F. Adams, Jr. (Jacquie´); step grand-daughter, Felecia Adams; brothers-in-law, Robert Adams (Martha) and Willie Gray Adams; sisters-in-law, Autrey Wilson, Victoria G. Wilson, Essie Adams Williams (Lonnie), Velma Adams Jones, Juanita Adams Farris; nieces, Diane Wilson Rhodes, Lisa Mullins Brown, Ina Wilson Smith (Garrett), Peggy Adams Howard, Sandra Little Tyler (Earnest); nephew, Wallace McLoyd, Jr. (Manya) and a host of other nieces and nephews.
