He was an accountant for Shell Oil, moving across the country about every 6 months, until they settled in Pampa, TX in 1956. He got his CPA license and started his own CPA practice, and then bought an oil and gas business.
He married his wife on December 23, 1950 in Phillips, Hutchinson County, Texas.
He was predeceased by his son Steven Craig Plunk and survived by his wife and daughter.
