Fort Bend Herald, December 26, 2013:

Matthew Robert Simmons, 32, of Richmond, passed away December 20, 2013, in Houston. Known as Matt-Matt to his nieces and nephews, he was born October 30, 1981 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Joe T. Simmons and Janis Peveto Simmons. He was a fitness buff and made working out every day a priority. He was blessed to have many loyal friends, all of whom will share special memories of their time with Matthew. He also enjoyed his work at Watson Grinding and was looking forward to a bright future there.

Matthew is preceded in death by his father, Joe Simmons, and his grandparents, Ed Peveto and Cleta Huser.

He is survived by his mother, Janis Simmons; grandmother, Marie Peveto; sisters, Dawn Flowers Anders and husband, Timothy, and Camille Simmons Bartley and husband, Scott; uncles and aunts, Mark and Cindy Peveto, Mike and Carla Peveto, Kassie Simmons, H. D. and Linda Simmons, and James Simmons; nieces and nephews, Whitney, Austin, and Kendall Mendez, Bailey and Nolan Bartley, and Ashley and Nicole Anders; along with numerous cousins, extended family members and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2013, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg, with Deacon Don Murrile officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.

Pallbearers will include Clint Simmons, Curtis Matzas, Chris Camp, John Perez, Brock Falkenhagen, and John Watson. Honorary pallbearers will include Phillip Longoria, Timmy Meaux, and Brian Kephart.
