Funeral for former Frederick resident Douglas Brandon "Brandy" Whitson, 38, of Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 201 E. Grand, Frederick, with Les Banks and Lance Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in Frederick Memorial Cemetery under direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.

Mr. Whitson passed away Monday evening, Dec. 23, 2013, at his home in Lawton.

Douglas Brandy Whitson was born Sept. 17, 1975, in Lawton, to Paul James and Brenda Eulene Dunlap Whitson. He attended Frederick Public Schools and graduated from Frederick High School in 1994. He later attended Western Oklahoma State College in Altus. While in high school he worked at Coy's Grocery Store and then at Frederick Lumber and for Scott's Carpentry. In 1996, he joined the Frederick Fire Department, where he served until his health forced him to take medical retirement in April of 2004. Brandy was united in marriage to Adrienne Michelle Huitger on Sept. 9, 2000, in Frederick. He enjoyed the outdoors while fishing, camping and hunting. Because of his fun sense of humor, aggravating his family and friends gave him great joy. His family and his daughter were his life. He was a member of the Cache Creek Cowboy Church in Lawton.

He is survived by his wife, Adrienne Whitson, of the home; one daughter, Aubree Eulene Whitson, of the home; his mother and father: Jim and Brenda Whitson of Frederick; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Julie Backus, of Frederick; his grandmother, Erma Dunlap, of Tipton; two brothers: Brent and Paul Whitson both, of San Antonio, Texas; two uncles: Eddie Whitson and his wife Pat, of Wichita Falls, Texas; and Doug Dunlap, of Frederick; nieces and nephews: Lance Whitson and his wife Crystal, Haley Whitson, Journey Backus, Alex Whitson, Asher Backus and Leah Jeffery; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law: Jared and Alisha Backus, Sean Huitger and Ali Jeffery; as well as many cousins, great-nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Paul Graves and Lillian V. Whitson, and O. B. and Eulene Dunlap; four uncles: Jack, Ronnie, Willie and Charles Frank Whitson; and one aunt, Betty Wolfe.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Cache Creek Cowboy Church, 6902 S.E. Bishop Rd, Lawton, 73501, in memory of Brandy Whitson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 923 West Gladstone, Frederick.
