From The Calgary Daily Herald, Thursday, July 5, 1934, pg 14 (includes photo of Dr. Lauder):

DEATH CLAIMS EARLY DOCTOR

Dr. John D. Lauder
For more than 40 years a resident of Innisfail, died at his home there at 11 o'clock, Wednesday night. The end was not unexpected, as he suffered a second stroke of paralysis last Sunday, from which he never rallied. He passed away quietly in his sleep. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. E.B. Nowers, Calgary; Mrs. Vernon C. Crawford, Innisfail, and Mrs. Stewart Moore, Sydney, B.C., and one son, Thomas Lauder, of Elnora.
---
John D. Lauder was born 82 years ago in County Meath, Ireland, of Scotch-Irish parentage, that breed which has given so many outstanding men to build Canada. His father was the Rev. Robert Lauder, a clergyman of the Irish Episcopal church. In his long life "Doc" played many roles. Medical student at Trinity college, Dublin and Liverpool, England; Mounted Policeman in the very early days of the force, Indian agent, representative for Calgary district with the late Judge Hugh S. Cayley in the North West Assembly at Regina, and for the last 40 years a resident of Innisfail. For many years "Doc" Lauder was practically the only doctor in that northern section of Central Alberta. With inadequate resources and little skilled help he performed many operations and the whole country swore by the doctor.

He was all man he he leaves behind him a name honored by all who knew him and sincerely mourned by his many intimate friends. "After life's fitful fever, he sleeps well" - G.H.J.
