Belva Mae Pennington, 85, of 28 Murphy Denton Rd., Tompkinsville, died April 12, 2003, at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. She was an assistant postmaster and member of the Moss (Tenn.) Church of Christ.

Born at Moss on Feb. 17, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Issac and Bonsie (Waddle) McLerran and the wife of the late James N. Pennington.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Rachel and Richard Chitwood, Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Gloria Ann and Thomas Smith, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Andrea Franks, Dara Zarth and Rachel Chitwood; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Thomas and Matthew Lee Franks.

Burial was at the Moss Cemetery.
