NANCY HENKEL STRALEY, age 90 went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 12, 2012. She died very peaceable at her home. She was born April 28, 1921 in Brownwood, Texas to J. Edward and Tommie Thornton Henkel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Leland, brother, Edward, wife Elsie and daughter, Eve Malancon, twin brother Robert, brother David and wife Lesta, and neice, Anita Mester.
She is survived by nieces, nephews and their spouces: Rosemary & Kyle Pierce of Oregon, Mark Mester of Mesquite, Pam and David Kelly of Arlington; Dan and Sarah of Virginia, Fred of Dallas, Terry and Kerri of Argile, TX, eleven great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Nancy attended Cross Plains schools, graduated with a BBA from Howard Payne and MED from U.T. Austin. She taught school for 31 years in Johnson City and Austin schools: Becker, Dawson, Travis Heights and Lender schools.
She was a member of Congress Avenue Baptist Church for 58 years and currently was a member of Manchaca Baptist Church. Nancy had a passion and love for missions. She loved and supported the Children at Heart Ministries, Samaritan's Purse and Missionaries around the world . She traveled extensively to over 33 countries around the world. Her lifelong hobby was oil painting. She went to art class and painted every week ,up until the week before she died. She loved her Sunday School Class and all of her retired teacher friends.

In lieu of flowers send contributions to the Children at Heart Ministries, 1301 N. Mays, Round Rock, TX 78664. Visitation will be at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Wednesday, April 18, from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. Services will be at 2:00 pm. at Harrell's. Pastor John Berryhill and Rev. Don Cramer will officiate. Pall Bearers are her nephews. Honorary pall Bearers, Wes McBryde Jim Gotcher and Dean Cunningham. Interment will be at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville.
