New York—(AP) Albert F. Houghton, 87, director and former vicepresident of Houghton, Miffin & Company, publishers of Boston and New York, died Sunday of heart complications after an operation, it was revealed yesterday.
Among authors he published were Kate Douglas Wiggin and Mary Johnston, whose “To Have and To Hold” was a best seller at the turn of the century. He was among the first to seek early movie scenario material in books and directed the sale of many of Francis Bret Harte’s stories to motion picture studios. He was unmarried.

Albert Fyler Houghton is the son of Albert G. Houghton. He was born on 30 Jul 1850 in Autauga County, Alabama, and died on 19 Dec 1937 in Manhattan, New York.
