Morris Jerry Korstange, aged 87, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He was born in Grand Rapids to Nicholas and Anna (Burke) Korstange. Jerry is survived by his wife Devonne (Denhof) whom he married in 1947, sons Steve (Carol), Alan (Mieke) and Mark; grandchildren Chris (Sarah) and Kelly Korstange; great grandchildren James and Karissa Hutton, Justin, Amelia and Jacob Korstange; brother Nick (Janice) and sister Jennifer (Ray Jaglowski). He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amy in 2004 and daughter-in-law Susie in 2006. Jerry proudly served his country in WWII aboard the LST 1022, seeing action in the Pacific theater. A home builder by trade, he retired from the City of Wyoming as the Chief Building Inspector in 1988. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and he and Devonne spent many years traveling to Florida as well as camping all over Michigan. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014 followed by military honors under the auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (2275 Diamond Ave NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49505). Please join the family for visitation at the church one hour prior to Mass. Private family interment in Fairplains Cemetery.
