JAMES F. TABER TAKEN BY DEATH
James F. Tabor, 70, grocer and former member of the City Council, died at 10:15 o'clock this morning at his home, 837 Fairview Avenue, following an illness of eight weeks.
The body was moved to the Gerard Mortuary where funeral services will be held. Final arrangements have not been completed, however, burial will be in Fairview Cemetery
Mr. Tabor was born in Allen County Sept. 25, 1877, a son of Emery and Isabell Pearson Taber. He was first married to Miss Roxie B. Cornwell who died Sept. 18, 1928. On July 4, 1931, he was married to Mrs. Nellie Tabor, who survives with two daughters, Mrs. James B. Warren and Mrs. Robert Davie of Miami, Fla., and four sons, H. Earl Tabor, Louisville, Floyd F. Tabor, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Ruble M. Tabor, Columbus O., and Harold R. Tabor, West Palm Beach, Fla; a step-son R.B. Tabor, Indianapolis, 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Tabor with his brother, the late W.B. Tabor, owned and operated a grocery on College Street from 1905-1912. Later he engaged in the grocery business by himself before taking charge of the meat department of the Piggly Wiggly with which he was connected nine years. For the past four years he had been in charge of the meat department of the T.B. Cook grocery.
He was elected on the Council ticket of the late Mayor D.D. Spencer in 194 and served until May when he resigned because of poor health.
