She was the first wife of country music icon Hank Williams, Sr. and mother of country singer Hank Williams, Jr. She often played and sang in her husband's band, and gained her own fame and popularity singing on a number of his songs. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1952, and after Hank Sr.'s death in 1953, she paid for the rights to work professionally as "Hank Williams' Widow".
