Son of Clifton J. and Tressie Hoffman Matthews, he never married, was a machine operator, lived at 1340 Myrtle St, Franklin, died in the Franklin Hospital of cardiac failure due to cirrhosis of liver, per death certificate 093755-63, whose informant was Mrs. Tressie H. Perrine of the same address.

James B. Matthews, 36, of 1340 Myrtle Street, died at 10 am Sunday in Franklin Hospital where he had been 3 days. He was born in Butler County March 31, 1927, son of Clifton J. Matthews and Tressie Hoffman Matthews Perrine of Franklin.

He was a machine operator, and at one time worked for Worthington Corporation in Oil City, He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, and was a veteran of World War II. He entered the service in Pittsburgh June 3, 1944, and was discharged June 22, 1946, in Bainbridge, MD, as Fireman 1-C in the US Navy.

Surviving are his parents; brothers and sisters, LeRoy A., Carl E., and Earl J. Matthews, and Richard L. Perrine, all of Franklin, Miss Florence Matthews of Utica, NY, Mrs. Kenneth R. (Mary) Kahler of Franklin; a step-brother; and 3 step-sisters.

Services will be at 1 pm Wednesday at Burger Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene W. Morford, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
