Our loving mother Martha Lee Slater, 101, daughter of the late John Dennis & the late Beulah Ferrell-Dennis and wife of the late Andrew Slater Sr. really tested psalms 41 and GOD proved his word to be true.
We give GOD the glory and the honor for our mother. Jesus went out to do good and our mother taught us to do the same, not in words but in deeds and in truth by the acts of love and kindness to family and others.
Born on August 12, 1912 in Miccosukee, Florida on Sunny Hill Plantation and entered into rest on December 14, 2013 in her home located in Tallahassee, Florida.
Our mother was a member of Concord A.M.E Church since childhood and attended Miccosukee School (Concord) on County Road 59 (Veterans Memorial Drive).
She is preceded by her sons Andrew Lee Slater (ToeJoe) and Jimmy Costa; her brothers Benjamin Dennis, Bural Dennis, George Dennis; sisters Mary Dennis (her twin sister), Lillie Dennis, and Susie Dennis as well as two grandchildren Calvin Warren and Charles Dunn.
Viewing will be at Strong & Jones Funeral Home for family on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 1:00pm and for friends & neighbors at 3:00pm, viewing will end at 7:00pm.
Funeral service will be 12 Noon, Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Christian Heritage Church, 2820 Sharer Rd, Tallahassee, Florida. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery.
