1999: Funeral bookmark handout shows; "Ethel Jane Dettman" "Funeral services for Ethel Jane Dettman, 64, of Marion, IA, formerly of Ft. Madison, IA and Central City, were held Monday, May 24 at Solt Funeral Home, Ethel died Friday, May 21 at Mercy Medical Center in Marion after a short illness.
The 11 a.m. services were officiated by Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch. Burial was in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sunday, May 23 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Solt Funeral Home.
A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Dettman's name.
Pallbearers were Jeff Chase, Al Burkhardt, Nick Kirchner, Wendell Land, Marvin Person and Randy Dettman.
Mrs. Dettman was born March 9, 1935 in Marquette to McKinley and Faye (Campbell) Land.
Ethel married Louis E. Dettman in Central City on October 25, 1952.
Mrs. Dettman has worked at Eagle Summit in patient services for many years and had retired in 1997. Mr. Dettman died in 1981.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy (Rodney) White of Cedar Rapids, IA and Lou (Roy) Dettman of Marion, IA; one son Robert (Susan) of Hannibal, MO; a brother Wendell Land of Grand Island; six sisters, Maxine Beckstrom of Stromsburg, Donna Spires of Exeter, Betty Person of Grand Island, Jeanelle Britton of Plymouth, IN, Phyllis (Arnold) Hanson of Nebraska and Patricia Gottuso of Simi Valley, CA; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Louis, two sons, Alan Dale and Michael, three brothers and three sisters.".
