Mr. Douglas moved to Lafayette in 1911. He had managed the commissary at the Indiana State Hospital at Indianapolis for six years, just prior to retiring in 1955. Prior to that, he had managed the commissary at the Indiana State Soldiers Home here for about 10 years. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, American Legion Post 11, and the Elks Lodge 143. He was a veteran of World War I, where he served as a lieutenant at Camp Lee, VA, and at Camp Taylor, KY.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Mrs. Claraella Sterling and a stepson, William Rabinoff, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two brothers, William E. Douglas and D.R. Douglas; and two sisters, Miss Mary Douglas and Mrs. Paul Sullivan, all of Lafayette.
