Mrs. Wendel was a member of Burnsville Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. Her enjoyments in life were gardening, playing piano, serving people and spending time with her family.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with the Rev. Dan Owens officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Parkinson's Foundation, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, or the Arthritis Foundation.

Born in Burnsville Feb. 14, 1918, Mrs. Wendel was the daughter of Allen and Nora Hacker Wade. She married Carl E. Wendel March 27, 1935, in Bartholomew County. He preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Chuck) Doup, Columbus; grandchildren, Lisa (Tom) Neal of Columbus, Teresa Garrity of Columbus, Rich (Dawn) Doup of Indianapolis and Michael Kinsel of Columbus; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathryn Romine, Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Judy A. Kinsel, on Feb. 16, 2010; and six brothers and sisters.
