Neal D. Davis, 88, of Smithville, Pa., died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, Pa.
The son of David and Blanche (Neil) Davis, he was born on June 4, 1925, in Canoe Twp., Indiana County.
Neal served in the U.S. Navy as seaman second class during World War II.
He had worked as a truck driver for Interstate Amesite and as a rock truck driver for Benjamin Coal Company.
Neal had hauled local coal for years, as well as driving truck for Murray "Murf" Smith.
Neal enjoyed stock car racing.
He was an avid reader of Western books and greatly enjoyed watching Westerns on television. Neal was entertained by his two grand-dogs, Ozzie and Mandy.
He married his late wife, Ruth (Lewis) Davis, on Oct. 26, 1946.
Neal is survived by his son, Murray R. Davis and wife Carol (Miller) of Smithville, Pa.; step-grandchildren Beth Winslow and friend Randy Painter of Clymer, Barbara Adams and husband Jim of Cherry Tree and Timothy Pearce and wife Alesha of Flinton, Pa.; step-great-grandchildren Brett and Carlee Erwin, Hunter and Mikayla Sherry, Mikenzie Adams and Trinity, Charity, Serenity and Victoria Pearce and her sister-in-law, Betty Baum, of Emeigh, Pa.
Neal was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth on Feb. 1, 2008; five sisters, Audrey, Martha, Marie, Sara and Annabelle; and three brothers, Clark, Clay and William.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, Pa.
A 1 p.m. funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, with Pastor Brian Keller officiating.
Interment will be at the Thompson Cemetery, Hillsdale, Pa.
