Contrary to what has been put in Anna's son, Samuel August Bergquist, obituary, she did not die in sight of the US while enroute to America. She in fact died from "ship fever" and is listed in the Henry Co, IL 1850 mortality schedule. Also note that three of their four children came to the United States, one daughter, Brita Stina Samuelssdotter (females were known as dotter while males as sons in Sweden)stayed behind.

Listed in the Swedish Passenger arrivals in U.S. ports 1820-1850 (except New York) by Nils William OLSSON, sent to me of information from Sue Team. On page 35 ship came into Port of Boston.

Samuel SAMUELSSON, farmer, received passport in Jönköping May 19, 1849 for himself,his wife and four children. He emigrated from Möcklemark in Hässleby Parish. He was born in Oletjärn, Ingatorp Parish (jön) 28 Jan 1806 s of Samuel HANSSON and Catharina PEHRSDOTTER. He was married to Anna ISAKSDOTTER b in Alsheda Parish (jön) 2 Jult 1808. daugter of Isak DANIELSSON farmer )hemmansägare) and Annika ISAKSDOTTER. They had four children all born in Ingatorp.

Only three children are listed on the mainifest.

Yes, the actual manifest lists that both sons were farmers. On the actual manifest it lists one person dying during voyage and is actually E. Derrick...as well as two births.
One living daughter, Brita Stina, did not join them on this voyage, even though she did have a passport.

Sadly there were 130 deaths in Bishop Hill, with "116 due to cholera".
