SCARBOROUGH – Marilyn (Wallace) Perkins, born a Valentine, on Feb. 14, 1932, died peacefully Dec. 11, 2013, at Gosnell Hospice House in their comforting care, while surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Marilyn "Lyn" was born in Bangor to Kathleen Wallace. She grew up on Boutelle Road and later attended Eastern Maine Medical Center's Nursing School, graduating as a Registered Nurse. She married her high school sweetheart, Judge Stephen Louis Perkins on Oct. 10, 1953, who predeceased her in 2008.

Lyn worked for many years providing loving care to patients, at Mercy Hospital until she became a full-time homemaker and stay at home mother of her then three children. Her family continued to grow with the addition of two more children to love and care for in their South Portland home.

After Lyn and Steve brought up their children, they moved to their beloved home on Little Sebago Lake. This was the loving hub of many years of family gatherings with children and grandchildren.

After the death of the love of her life, she resided with and was cared for by her daughter, Darcy and son-in-law, John. Darcy and John's loving care at home allowed her to spend all but her last three days in her home.

Lyn is survived by her five children, Kathy McKechnie and husband, David, Kim Kelley and husband, Mike, Reese Perkins and wife, Robin, Tammy Riley and husband, Kevin, and Darcy Newton and husband, John; and her 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply. Grammie will be sadly missed by her large, loving family. But they are comforted that she is finally at rest with her loving husband and her mother.

Burial will be at Brooklawn Cemetery, Congress Street, Portland. (Bangor Daily News 12/14/2013)
