Nancy Lee (Kling) Michael, 78, rural East Freedom, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening at her residence surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Thomas C. and Nancy F. (Bechtel) Kling. She married Herman S. Michael Jr. on Aug. 26, 1952, in Winchester, Va., and he passed away Sept. 17, 2011.
Surviving are two daughters: Ty Anne Ridings of Trenton, Tenn., and Tawn L. McCreary of rural East Freedom; a son, Herman T. III of East Freedom; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Priscilla Jonson in Georgia.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori, in 2000; a granddaughter, Andrea McCreary, in 1999; two brothers: Thomas and David; and a sister, Patricia.
Nancy retired as a certified nurse's aide from Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, after more than 20 years of service. She was a volunteer at Claysburg Food Bank and enjoyed spending time with her family.
According to the wishes of the deceased, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Inurnment will be held at Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be given to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
