Passed away on October 21, 2005, at the young age of 94. She is dearly missed by her daughter-in-law Joy Schmiedt, her grandchildren Richard and April Schmiedt and Nancy and Mihran Berejikian, and great-grandchildren Aimee, Abby, Zaven and Anik, her sisters Florence and Erna, her brother Walter, and many other friends and family. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Edwin Schmiedt, her son Richard Schmiedt Sr., and her second husband Herb Wacker. Hilda was born in Montana on March 13, 1911, moved to South Dakota during her childhood and married Edwin Schmiedt in 1933. Hilda and Edwin immigrated to California during the depression and Hilda gave birth to their only son, Richard shortly thereafter. While living in Sacramento, Hilda was activity involved in her church, Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for well over 20 years. Hilda also received her high school diploma after moving to California and worked for the Franchise Tax Board later in life. Hilda, (Wife, Mom, Grandma, Aunt, Great-Grandma, Great-Aunt, Teacher, Friend) will be remembered often and with much love. Friends are invited to attend funeral services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1500 27th St., at 3:00 PM on Oct. 27. Reception following the service will also be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances in her memory to be made to Greenhaven Lutheran Church, 475 Florin Rd., Sacramento, CA 95831. Published in the Sacramento Bee.
