She was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Vermillion, Ill., to Wilbert and Almerta (Serber) Hickman. She was a graduate of Garfield High School in Terre Haute.
Carolyn worked for the T.H. Gas Company until she married David Leonard. She and David lived in Rhode Island while David was serving in the Navy.
They later settled in Ottawa until David retired from teaching. They made the move to Montana, where Carolyn worked as a legal secretary for a law firm and later for a physical therapy office.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Tana Ostrowski, her husband Andrew, and grandson, Dustin, of Missoula; son, Scott Leonard, of Terre Haute; a brother, Lester Hickman, of Terre Haute; and five nieces and one nephew.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; a brother, Max Hickman; and a sister, Nina Frye.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 14, at Roselawn Funeral Home, Terre Haute. Services will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home. Carolyn will be entombed next to her husband in Roselawn Memorial Park's Chapel of Memories.
