Text: Frank H. Thayer, 78, of North Homer City passed away at Indiana Hospital at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 1961. Born May 21, 1883, in Bernice Sullivan County, Pa., son of James and Tempa Watson Thayer. He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah Johnston; a daughter, Iona, wife of Floyd Miller of Homer City R.D. 2; four sons, Arthur of Butler; Franklin of Indiana; John of Akron, Ohio, and Eugene of Los Angeles, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Cora Rutherford of Blairsville, and a brother John of Glen Campbell, also survive. A resident of Homer City for the past 35 years, he had been employe by the R and P Coal Co. until his retirement 13 years ago. He was a member of Tide Local 3676 UMW of A. Friends will be received at the George Askew Funeral Home, Homer City, after 7 p.m. today, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Gail E. McQueen at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 3. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Burnside.
