His first wife was Nancy Ann Calvery whom he married in Jackson County, Alabama. They moved to Texas and had their only son, William Henderson Byrd. This marriage did not last, Grandpa Byrd went back to Mississippi, and the reason is unclear. He did make many trips back to Falls County, Texas, where his first family was, evidently to see his first born son, Will Byrd, as well as other Byrds who had migrated to Texas due to plentiful land and work. He made many trips back to Texas, and several of his children were born in Texas, around Chilton and Eddy in Falls County where many descendants and relatives still currently reside.
Grandpa Byrd's second wife is Mary Ann Woolard who was said to be the "best dancer in Jackson, Tennessee". They were married 14 January 1884 in Jackson, Tennessee. They lived in Tennessee, Mississippi and Texas during their marriage and had six children who were: Nora, Evalena, Elizabeth Jane, James Christopher Columbus, Della Mae and Richard Elmo. Sadly, our Great Grandmother "Annie" died at the young age of 31, leaving Grandpa Byrd with a large family to care for alone, as well as a newborn baby.
Grandpa's third and last wife is Elizabeth Ann "Bettie" Peters whom he married 24 Jan 1900 in Alcorn County, Mississippi. Their five children were born in Texas, but they again went back to Mississippi. (Information provided by Great Granddaughter, Nancy Yankie.)
