Jeannette (Christiansen) Edlund passed away peacefully on December 5, 2013. She was born in Norman, a farming community located in the Stillaguamish Valley just outside of Stanwood on May 23, 1929 to Henry and Laura Christiansen.

Jeannette graduated from Stanwood High School in 1947. She attended Providence School of Nursing through Everett Community College and Seattle University, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1950.

After graduation, she began her career working as a nurse for Everett Providence Hospital. In 1956, she was hired as the Director of Nursing for Skagit General Hospital. Jeannette continued to work in the nursing profession while being a "Super Mom" to her three sons until she retired in 1978.

Family was Jeannette's greatest passion, and she was both a loving Mother and Grandmother. She will be remembered for her integrity, strength of character, fierce determination and beautiful smile. As a proud Norwegian, she took great pleasure in serving the traditional Christmas dinner of lutefisk, making the most delicious lefse and dancing to Scandinavian music.

Jeannette was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church who enjoyed teaching Sunday School for over 30 years. She was an avid golfer who continued to compete into her 80's as a member of both the Camaloch and Kayak Ladies Golf Association.

Above all, she cherished attending the activities and events of her children and grandchildren, and took great pride in being the "official" scorekeeper at their many baseball games over the years.

Jeannette is survived by her faithful husband of 62 years, Maurice Edlund; their three sons, Mark Edlund, his wife Ruth and their children Erik and Annette; Steve Edlund, his wife Darcy Drysdale and their children Peter and Ian; Kirk Edlund, his wife Brenda and their children Jack and Luke; and many loving relatives and friends.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Laura Christiansen; her sisters, Hazel Tingley and June Christiansen; her brother, Lester Christiansen; and her grandson Matthew Edlund.

Visitation will be at Gilbertson Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday, December 11th and 12th from 9am to 4:30pm. Memorial services will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood, on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11 a.m.; following a private family graveside service at Anderson Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church PO Box 370, Stanwood, WA 98292, or to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home in Stanwood.
