Martin Jones was born on May 16th of 1816 to unknown parents in an as yet unknown location according to family bible records.

He married Keziah Busby on December 10th of 1840 and the couple had at least one son.

He passed away on January 7th of 1846 in Shelby County, Alabama, also per bible record.

It is my best guess that he is likely buried in Summer Hill Cemetery, along with his wife Keziah Busby Jones and Granddaughter, Mary K. Jones, but this is only speculation.

Rebecca Jones married John A. Busby and it is my suspicion that Martin and Rebecca were likely related in some way. Further research on these individuals could prove essential to discovering their parentage.

03/24/2016 Update : A descendant of this man is a 4th Cousin Match to a descendant of Nathan Olious Jones, a potential son of Asa Jones, with the Father of Nathan Olious Jones being the common ancestor.

Update 10 Apr 2023 : There was a William McCloud in Fairfield County, South Carolina that Abraham Seale had dealings with. The Busby and Butler families were there as well. There is a Jones family also of that county. While the common assumption is that Asa Jones is the father of Martin Jones, as he has many unidentified children, I wonder if perhaps Martin might be descended from the Jones family of Fairfield. While there are DNA matches to descendants of Nathan Olious Jones, the families that ended up in Shelby County, Alabama married into each other. Because this line is too far back to pick apart entirely with DNA, it might be worth looking into the Jones of Fairfield.
