He was born on March 20, 1924 in South Bend to Michael and Therese Danch, who preceded him in death; along with his brother, Alfred and sister, Helen.
Mike graduated from Riley High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Army with the Flying Tigers. On October 2, 1947, in South Bend, he married Mary "Louise" McDaniel, who went to her eternal life on January 22, 2005.
Mike was employed by the Studebaker Corporation for 16 years; he retired from the Indiana State Unemployment Service (Winchester, Elkhart and South Bend offices) where he was honored with the Distinguished Service Award by Governor Evan Bayh.
He is survived by his three children, Mikki (Dave) Beaty of Mishawaka, Cheryl (John) Housel of Winchester, and Mike (Judi) Danch of South Bend; three grandchildren, David (Tamie) Beaty of South Bend, Kelly (Scott) Johnston of Mishawaka and Ian (Fiancée Jennifer) of Fort Wayne; six great grandchildren, Sabrina, Kyler, Kara, Jacqueline Beaty and Danielle and Haley Johnston; his brother, Elmer and sisters, Evelyn Szucs and Elsie Horvath of South Bend; along with his nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held in a private ceremony by his family. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN is assisting the family with arrangements.
