Miss Mary Hilton, one of Bradford's most prominent residents, a sister of Robert W. and John M. Hilton, who operate the Penn Charcoal & Chemical Co. here, died late Wednesday night of last week in the Buffalo General Hospital.
Miss Hilton, a resident of Bradford for the past 30 years, had been in ill health for the past three years. Eight weeks ago she was admitted to the Buffalo Hospital. She was born in Hiltonville, N. Y., and moved to Bradford at an early age.
Miss Hilton was Bradford Senior High School librarian for several years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years and also held membership in the Bradford Country Ciub. the Women's Literary Club and the American Association of University Women, Bradford branch. She was a graduate of Smith College, Northampton, Mass. She was highly respected and had innumerable friends.
Surviving beside her two brothers, Robert W. Hilton and John M. Hilton, are two sisters, Miss Margaret W. Hilton of Bradford and Mrs. Bess Hilton Button of Steubenville, O., and a niece, Mrs. Ann Button Bell of Cripple Creek, Col.
Funeral services were held at the Hilton family home on Congress street in Bradford Sunday afternoon at 2:00 'clock. Dr. F. Dean Miller, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Bradford officiated.
Pallbearers were Gustine Cable, Ralph Coffin, Frank Bauer, John Fitzgibbon, Thomas B. Wilson and Charles Collins, all of Bradford, and Russell, R. Lindsley of Smethport.
Burial was in the family plot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Bradford.
