Wanda Berry, 91, of McAlester, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at a local nursing center. Wanda was born December 17, 1923 in Celestine Prairie to Otha & Jenny (Plunkett) Ferrante. She attended schools in McAlester and married Walter K. Berry on July 20, 1943 in Eufaula. Wanda was a homemaker for most of her life but also was seamstress, working a short while for Seamprufe. She and Walter enjoyed traveling and visiting Las Vegas. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law: Kenneth & Susan Berry of McAlester; granddaughter & spouse: Renee Kannady & Chris of Oklahoma City; great-grandson: Kannon Kannady of Oklahoma City; great-granddaughter: Shelby Kannady of Oklahoma City; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Otha & Jenny Ferrante; husband: Walter Berry on July 1, 2010; grandson: Bruce Berry; and a brother: Charlie Ferrante. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. James Crowson officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
