Mrs. Katharine Fortman died on Tuesday evening, September 5, 1922. She was the relict of the late Joseph Fortman who died September 3, 1910, thus making the woman's widowhood extend over a period of eleven years.

They lived on a farm west of Minster and being thusly situated they held membership in the St. Augustine Catholic congregation and worshipped in this city with the large company of people who make up that religious organization. The husband and the wife were both strong in their religious faith and they reared a son and a daughter.

The funeral of Mrs. Fortman will be held at the church in this city on Saturday morning, September 9, at 8:30 o'clock, and the remains will be interred in the local cemetery.

Mrs. Fortman was born in St. Marys, Ohio, on November 14, 1841, and she lived in that city until the time when she was married to Joseph Fortman. They labored untiringly and counseled wisely concerning their affairs and met with success as time passed by. They became the owners of a splendid farm home in this locality and both of them passed from earth life at this place.

Her age was 81 years, 9 months and 19 days and it was only during the last eight weeks of her life that she could be registered as in the invalid's class.

She is survived by a son, Frank Fortman, who is now residing on the farm of his parents. There is also one daughter, Mrs. Bernard Grieshop, who is a resident of St. Peter, in Mercer county.

She was a member of the St. Monica Ladies society in Minster.

{Minster Post, Sept 8, 1922, pg. 1.}

Note: Her maiden name also spelled Eick. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary Fleckenstien Eich, both natives of Germany.
