Melba L. Beckstead
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Melba Louisa Harkness Jensen Beckstead, passed away July 21, 1993. Born January 3, 1905 in Salt Lake to William D. and Louisa Kilpack Harkness.
Married Reuben Victor Jensen on November 28, 1923 in Salt Lake City; marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 24, 1924. He passed away on May 25, 1937.
Married Ivies LeCompte Beckstead on January 25, 1943. He passed away on June 15, 1955.
Melba was a faithful member of the LDS Church and dedicated her life to the love, care and service of others. She was a devoted visiting teacher, and was greatly loved by all who knew her. She dearly loved her family, as they did love her.
She was the mother of three children, Frank Victor (June) Jensen (he preceded her in death), Murray; Lavon Melba Jensen, Mountain Green; Dale Rulon (Maxine) Jensen, Midvale; brother, Calvin La Var Harkness, Parley's Summit; sisters, Alberta West, Salt Lake; and Dorothy Losser, Hurricane; also surviving are 26 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren, who all loved her beyond words.
Funeral services Monday, July 26, 1993, 12 noon, Murray 3rd Ward Chapel, 160 East 4600 South (Brown St.). Friends may call Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, and Monday 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park.
