Robert P. "Bob" Summers, age 83 of Narvon, PA, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday, December 5, 2013. He was the husband of Charlotte "Shorty" Denlinger Summers with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage on April 14th of this year. He was born in Salisbury Township, son of the late Peter & Minnie Pawling Summers. He was a member of Pilgrim Bible Church of New Holland where he was very active as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and enjoyed the Saturday morning Men's Bible Study. He was a graduate of the former Salisbury Township High School class of 1946. Bob was a plumber for Summers Brothers for 13 years and then worked for Ford New Holland retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Salisbury Township Historical Society and one of the charter members of the Pequea Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, gardening, being outdoors, looking for arrowheads, family mountain trips and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters: Linda wife of Maurice Boley of Narvon, Lou Ann wife of Gene Lammey of Christiana, 5 grandchildren: Melissa Sensenig, Jennifer Ingram, Heidi Boley, Rosie & Nathan Lammey, 2 great grandchildren: Marshal & Mariah Sensenig, 2 sisters: Thelma Wanner of Narvon & Evelyn Eby of Kinzers. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by 12 siblings: John, George, Edward, Richard, Lester, Paul, Allen "Mike" Summers, Geraldine Spotts, Kathryn Wetzler, Ethel Maitland, Hazel Mast and Frances Ludwig. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, December 7th at 3:00 p.m. from the Pilgrim Bible Church, 5367 Paes Road, New Holland, with Pastor Norman Griess officiating. There will be time to greet the family from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be private prior to the service in the Pequea Presbyterian Cemetery.
