Netha McKay, 66, Final Rites Held August 3

Funeral services for Mrs. W. [illiam] Lester (Netha Neola) McKay, 66, of Sharpsburg, Ia., held August 3, in Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford was conducted by Carl Cummings and Rev. Leonard Mclntyre. Mrs. McKay died in her home in Sharpsburg, Ia. August 1, 1977. Interment was at Washington Cemetery, Gravity, Ia.

Netha Neola Akers McKay, daughter of Neal and Elsie Piper Akers, was born near Gravity, Iowa, November 28, 1910.

She grew to maturity in the community where she was born where she attended the rural school and Sharpsburg High School.

On October 12, 1927, she was united in marriage to W. [illiam] Lester McKay at the home of the bride's parents. They farmed and lived in Taylor County all of their married life and moved to Sharpsburg in 1958 where they have since continued to reside.

She was employed by the Sharpsburg and Lenox Community School hot lunch program until ill health caused her to retire after 18 years of service.

Five children were born to bless their home and to share their love.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Merle Akers, and a grandson, Glen Darrell Bolinger.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, W. [illiam] Lester McKay of the home; two sons and three daughters: D. Lester (Mac) McKay and his wife, Mary Florence, of Corning, Ia.; Rosalee Bolinger and her husband, Weldon of Mt. Ayr., Ia.; Shirley Jean Lawrence of Sharpsburg, Ia; Roland Eugene McKay and his wife, Rochelle, of Ft. Dodge, Ia.; and Leota Eileen (Pinkie) McKay of Omaha, Nebr.; 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
