Life's Work/Service/Interests: In 1943, Leland "John" married his high school sweetheart, Norma Vee Snelson, in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple. He was a veteran of World War II and an active member of the American Legion Veterans for many years. He worked at Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company for 38 years. In 1954, he assisted in starting the Cub Scout Program in Springville, Utah. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he had many church callings. He was known for his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens that he generously shared with his family and friends. Everyone loved his cantaloupes. He loved working in his yard and farming. He also enjoyed pitching for his church and city league fastpitch softball teams. He loved camping, hunting and most of all, fishing. Loving father, grandpa, brother and friend, Leland Mack "John" Hatfield, passed away peacefully in his home, of giant cell arteritis on December 4, 2013. He was surrounded by his loving family. Leland was welcomed by the outreached loving arms of his eternal companion, Norma.
Survived By: Three children: Mack (Linda) Hatfield, of Mapleton; Mikeal (Margery) Hatfield, of Springville; and Marilyn (Neil) Christiansen, of Mapleton; 13 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters.
