Irene was born in the Town of Christiana, Wis. on Dec. 30, 1924, the daughter of John and Minerva (Ellickson) Egre. She was the 1942 salutatorian at Cambridge High School and graduated from Madison Business College. Irene worked as a secretary at the State Office Building for five years prior to her marriage. On Aug. 22, 1947, Irene married Edward M. Jensen at the First East Koshkonong Lutheran Church in Cambridge. Edward preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2001. Irene was a very involved member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards in many groups, and also bowling.

Surviving are: her children, Diane (Chris) Hansen of Kalamazoo, Mich., Cheryl Allegretti of Cambridge, John (Lori) Jensen of Cambridge, and Tom (Jill) Jensen of Cambridge; grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Johnson, Lissa (Grant) Brown, David Jensen, Amanda Jensen, Julia Jensen, Dane Jensen, and John (Amy) Hansen; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Holden, Carter, Sydney, and Addilyn; sister, Joan Horton of Cambridge; sister-in-law, Carolyn Allen, Edgerton; and brother-in-law, Robert Crump of Lake Mills. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Bernice, Carol, and Helen; brother, Leroy; an infant brother; and son-in-law, Frank Allegretti Sr.
