Dorothea C. "Dora" Steffen, 77, of Durant, died Wednesday, March 4, 1936, at her home in Durant after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, at the Durant Chapel in Durant. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Dorothea Christine Bierkamp was born December 17, 1859, in Hanover, Germany, the daughter of August and Johanna (Diedrich) Bierkamp. She immigrated to the United States with her family to Davenport in 1880. She married Heinrich Steffen on February 26, 1884, in Davenport. They farmed near New Liberty for 20 years, until moving to Durant where they have since lived.

Surviving are her husband, Henry; four brothers, George Bierkamp of Reinbeck, Carl and John Bierkamp, both of Durant, and August Bierkamp of Sunbury; and two sisters, Minnie Horn of Hartley and Augusta Brandt of Reinbeck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.
