Johanna was the mother of Thomas J. Barry. Thomas's headstone records Johanna Barry 1851-1921. It seems this inscription was added years later and the Johanna refered to, in this inscription, is a different Johanna Barry. The Johanna who does not relate to Thomas was a patient in The Gardner State Colony for the Insane. Many individuals who died in the institution were buried in Saint Johns in unmarked graves. It seems that an unknown family member added the inscription years after interment, and received the record for Johanna who was a patient, and not Thomas's mother. The two Johannas died about six months apart and were about 17 years apart in age. Another wrinkle to this story is that Johanna, mother of Thomas, was the widow of Michael Joseph Barry. Joseph was lost at sea on board the fishing Schooner Massasoit in June 1882, off of New Foundland. It could be possible that Johanna is buried in the O'Hearn family lot (in St. Johns), where her daughter and son in law are likely buried. The O'Hearn lot has few inscriptions and the cemetery does not have records.
