Aug 6, 1934 - Carroll Daily Herald - Mrs. Peter Schiltz, 84, died at her home on south Clark street this morning at 1:10 a.m. alter an illness of about three weeks. Death was due to heart trouble.
The body will be taken from the Kircher-Deitrich funeral home this afternoon to the home of John Schiltz, 107 S. Court street. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 8:30 at Ss. Peter and Paul's Church, the Rev. Fr. Lambert Schenkelberg officiating at requiem mass. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery at Carroll.
Margaret Hess was born Dec. 7, 1850, in Neu Muenster, Luxemburg, Germany, the only daughter of John and Theresa Hess. She came with her parents to this country in 1861 settling in Dubuque. They moved to Carroll in November, 1885.
On Sept. 16, 1869 she was married to Peter Schiltz at Carroll, and to this union the following children were born: Josephine, now Mrs. Aug. Scharnweber, Peter Schiltz, Theresa now Mrs. Frank Gross, John Schiltz, Edward Schiltz, all of Carroll and Celia now Mrs C.J. La Pointe of Annconda, MT. 25 grandchildren survive.
Four sons and two daughters: Mrs. George Daniel and Mrs. Anna Greene, preceded her in death. Her husband died March 2, 1911.
