COLEMAN, WILLIAM DOTY
Age 88, of Superior Township passed peacefully November 29, 2013. Beloved husband of 46 years to the late Beatrice. He is survived by seven sons and six daughters: William Jr. of Waterford, Lester (Ruth) of Unionville, TN, Linda Griebe of Ann Arbor, Sharon of Ypsilanti, Kermit (Annie) of Canton, Gary (Mark) Colemansmith of Vancouver, WA, Kenneth (Pam) of Saline, Ronald (Amparita) of Ann Arbor, Karen Gnagi of Ypsilanti, Sheila (Vern) Powell of Ann Arbor, Janet (Nick) Figarra of Ypsilanti, Kimberly (Kirk) Rose of Saline, and Daryl (Judy) of Chelsea. Proud grandfather of 38 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Jean (the late Art) Braham, Mayola (the late Bill) Beeson, Marjorie (the late Sam) Currie, Kathleen (Don) Hockenberry, Bernell (the late Dale) Eicher, Joseph (Maria) and Blaine (Marlene). Brother-in-law of Margaret Jorgensen (Steve Drozdowski) of Pinckney and Evelyn Jorgensen. He was preceded in death by his daughter Doris (stillborn in 1969), and sister and brother-in-law Diane (Galen) Ansell. Mr. Coleman was born to Doty and Emma (Banner) Coleman on January 25, 1925 in Lycippus, Pennsylvania and graduated from Georges Township High School in 1943. He enlisted in the Navy on May 26, 1943 and served on the USS Queenfish. He was honorably discharged on March 17, 1946 as Fireman First Class. He came to Michigan from Pennsylvania in 1947 and married Beatrice Jorgensen on December 31, 1947 in Denton, MI. He retired in 1985 from Hoover Ball & Bearing in Ann Arbor. He farmed with his wife on Gotfredson Road. He enjoyed reading, crosswords and Sudoku. Visitation Wednesday 3-9 PM and Funeral Service Thursday, 11 AM, at Vermeulen Funeral Home, 46401 W Ann Arbor Rd (between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth (734) 459-2250. Interment at Cherry Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arbor Hospice.
