NOTE: a discrepancy on Edna's year of birth. Her grave marker indicates 1879, but her death certificate lists 1880. The correct year of birth is 1879 as shown on the marker.

Edna Cartwright, the only daughter of Silas and Susan Olive (Chamberlain) Cartwright, was born at Streator, IL. Edna and two brothers came with their parents to southwest Nebraska in 1895. The family purchased land just west of the Seth Pearson homestead. Edna's third brother was born in Nebraska.

Ira Emery (who used the name Emery) and Edna married Feb. 20, 1898 (according to the family Bible)in Palisade, NE. Emery took out his own homestead on land 15 miles northwest of Palisade around 1897 and made his $4 payment as required by law for ownership Apr. 29, 1899. Emery and Edna had five children:
Susie Florence;
Essica Fern "Fern";
Chester Roosevelt "Chet";
Seth Hugh "Hugh";
Lyle Stanley "Stan".

In 1905 Emery and Edna sold the homestead and moved into a large two story house on Osborn Street in Palisade.

Edna passed away at St. Catherine's Hospital in McCook Nebraska.
